Cookie Policy
Last updated: March 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how SimmerPicks (simmerpicks.com) uses cookies and similar technologies. The short version: we use very few, and none of them track you across the web.
What We Use Instead of Cookies
For most functionality, we use localStorage rather than traditional cookies. localStorage is a browser feature that stores small pieces of data on your device. Unlike cookies, localStorage data is never automatically sent to our servers with each request.
What we store in localStorage
- Email popup dismissal -- When you close the email signup popup, we remember that choice so you don't see it again. This is stored as a simple flag on your device.
- Feedback votes -- When you vote on "Was this helpful?" or "Did you buy?" buttons, we store your votes locally to prevent duplicate submissions and show you which items you've already voted on.
How to clear localStorage
You can clear localStorage at any time through your browser settings:
- Chrome: Settings > Privacy and Security > Clear browsing data > check "Cookies and other site data"
- Firefox: Settings > Privacy & Security > Cookies and Site Data > Clear Data
- Safari: Settings > Privacy > Manage Website Data > Remove data for simmerpicks.com
Cookies We Set
Currently, SimmerPicks does not set any first-party cookies. We rely on localStorage as described above.
Third-Party Cookies
Some third-party services that interact with our site may set their own cookies:
Amazon affiliate links
When you click an affiliate link to Amazon, Amazon sets cookies on your device to track the referral. These cookies are governed by Amazon's Privacy Notice. We do not control or have access to Amazon's cookies.
Cloudflare
Our site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare may set essential cookies for security purposes (such as bot detection). These are strictly necessary cookies that help protect the site and cannot be opted out of. See Cloudflare's Cookie Policy.
Google Analytics (planned)
We plan to add Google Analytics 4 in the future to understand how visitors use our site. When implemented, Google Analytics will use cookies to collect anonymized usage data such as pages visited, time on site, and general geographic region. We will update this policy before adding analytics and will provide an opt-out mechanism.
No Tracking Cookies
We do not use any advertising tracking cookies, retargeting pixels, or cross-site tracking technologies. We do not participate in any advertising networks that track your browsing across other websites.
Your Choices
You can control cookies and localStorage through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to:
- Block all cookies
- Block third-party cookies only
- Clear existing cookies and site data
- Get notified when a cookie is set
Blocking or clearing localStorage may reset your preferences (such as the email popup dismissal), but will not affect your ability to use the site.
Changes to This Policy
We will update this Cookie Policy if we add new cookies or tracking technologies. When we make significant changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
